Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 11th October, 2016

Today's weather;

The sky over Koh Samui this morning is cloudy with a few rare blue spot in it but it is expected to remain dry. There's a bit of wind which should fade out during the afternoon. Current temp at 7am is 28C

At Kata on Phuket it's a mixed bag, just like yesterday. We had some hard rain early in the morning but now some blue spots in the sky are drifting in although there are still grey and water heavy clouds around. Current temp at 7am is 25.4C

The empty water reservoir near Wat Samret in Namuang. This is one of the two water reservoirs and natural resources for water supply around on Koh Samui that are currently almost as good as empty. Many people are not being supplied with water for a couple of days already and the drought has been brought around by the lack of rain. Currently the government is looking into generating artificial rain over Koh Samui.
The Provincial Waterworks Authority (PEA) run a smaller seawater desalination plant at full steam, but that is still not enough to meet the daily demand of 30,000 cubic meter from houses and resorts on the island. Water rationing has already been introduced and is as you can imagine, it's making life hard for people and businesses on many parts of the island. To solve the water problems of the island, the PWA is building an undersea pipeline capable of bringing  30,000 cubic meters a day of raw water from the mainland to the treatment plants. It should be finished in February next year, Seree Supratid, the PWA governor said. Check an article in the Bangkok Post here.

Yesterday saw a partially clouded sky over Koh Samui with a few small rain drops at our North Eastern part of the island. Max temp reached 31C

A bicycle in Phuket town. When you're visiting Phuket, a trip to Phuket town is well worth your time and effort. Phuket town has many very old style houses and it's very cozy with plenty of small (traditional) restaurants, bars and cafe's. There are also a few hotels and it's enjoyable just walking around and getting surprised by the nice views. If you're a photographer, there are plenty of great shots to be made here.

The forecast for the next ten days on Koh Samui shows that the wind in general is fading, with partially cloudy skies and with an occasional shower. There is still no significant amount of rain predicted for Koh Samui and the rainy season still seems to be sitting in the waiting room.
