Hi Camille,

Hope you are well, I came across your blog and just wanted to ask your advice.

My parents are travelling to Koh Samui this December. I fear I may have booked them the wrong place to chill out as it seems to be a party island??

Can you suggest an area I should look at which would have the suitable resorts and environment for them to relax in. They are around 60 years old but they are not old so to speak, they dont want to be surrounded completely by old people but also not by party animals, too young couples etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Samir

Hi Samir,

Samui is not only a party place, in Chaweng and Lamai you will most certainly find options to party but there are plenty of other, nice and quiet parts around the island. Personally I like Choengmon a lot but Bophud and Fisherman’s Village are also very nice.

December can also be a bit tricky with the weather, will they arrive early December or later in the month? Early December can be tricky, please have a look at my archives, half way down the page on my Samui info and weather blog, right hand side, they go back a few years. Open a month that you’re interested in and check one of the last posts of each month, starting with ‘Goodbye to…………’ this post will tell you the weather conditions for that month.
You can also check each individual post for that month if you wish to.

Hope this helps for now.
