Koh Samui, Thailand daily weather update; 8th December, 2012

Today's weather;

Things quickly came back to 'normal' with the electricity back on again around Koh Samui and also  on Koh Phangan is back on the grid again. Nonetheless, as a back up, 16 big generator trucks have arrived on the island from the mainland.

The first 'face saving' messages are coming through though and so far, Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silpa-archa takes top spot with this statement; "The outage won't affect tourists and tourism business operators to a great extent because Thailand has a competitive advantage in tourism and is also a regional hub, and foreigners like to come here,"

He painted a rosy picture overall, saying international tourist arrivals to Thailand this year should reach 21.5 million with revenue of at least 800 billion baht.

The minister said more big sporting events were planned in southern Thailand in an effort to draw more tourists. The country will also host the World Deaf Futsal Championships in 2015 and the fourth Asian Beach Games in 2014, he added.

This is the same person who stated that the rape on a Dutch girl earlier this year in Krabi could not be considered rape! Does this person actually understand that we live in the 21st century and there things like the internet?

In the meantime, the good weather conditions keep going strong and it's sunny and going to be warm around the island today. Current temp at 7am is 24.5C

Khao Lak has the early morning thin cloud layer but most likely the sun will come out later today and heat things up, just like yesterday. Current temp at 7am is 23.1C

Yesterday saw a nice and warm day around Koh Samui with a max temp of 30C

The forecast didn't change and it looks warm and sunny for the next 7 days.
