23rd November, 2008

Today's weather;

It's very cloudy and it hasn't rained all night and morning, so far but it feels wet outside. Current temp at 7 am is 24.4C, relatively cold!

Yesterday was a wet day, with plenty of rain, especially during the morning. Max temp reached 27.9C.

Warning 'out of order', floods kill two in mid-South; Rescuers searched for a one-year-old boy missing after water runoff hit this southern province, drowning at least two other persons.

Bangkok is going to see an interesting Sunday, which demonstrations at both sides; Peace Advocates made a plea for restraint on both sides as the PAD and UDD geared up for major Bangkok demonstrations on Sunday and tension rises.

In a way we've been lulled into a false sense of security with the 'status quo' in Bangkok going on for so long. Bearing in mind recent events, things could rapidly deteriorate :-(

In which case tourism - already suffering with the economic situation as well as the political instability - would suffer a really crippling blow. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

So far no violence, which is very good, however, the planned strike for public offices isn't good! That's not going to benefit Thailand at all.

There needs to come a peaceful solution, soon!

Hi Camille!
Just found your blog on a google search - we were wondering what the weather is like in Samui at the moment so very useful, thanks!!

I guess this is pretty typical weather for the time of year? We were hoping to come to Samui on December 6th but a travel agent in Thailand has just advised us to try the other side instead, ie Phuket/Krabbi.
Any thoughts? I guess the weather will be wet in Samui for a few weeks now.....

Thanks - Dean

Hi Dean

This is typical weather for this time of the year! Usually around mid December it turns for the better, although there still will be occasional rain. The Phuket side is indeed for this time of the year.

Damn it! Really prefer Samui and Phangan - maybe we'll have to check back on the weather just before we leave!!

Many Thanks for letting us know.

Hi Dean,

You're welcome. It's worthwhile waiting and checking briefly before you leave and decide accordingly.

Good luck!
