International School of Tourism, part of Surat Thani's Rajabaht University, Chaweng

International School of Tourism, part of Surat Thani's Rajabaht University, Chaweng

The off shoot of Surat Thani's Rajabaht University's campus on Koh Samui, dedicated mainly to hotel management is about to complete it's construction.

The Samui campus is almost completed, in contrast to what the static Uni's website tells us and classes could start happening with the start of the next school year.

The complex houses a hotel so the students get hands on training and experience. Not sure what the rate for rooms will be but I'm sure it won't be the last I report about this Uni and I will update on news regarding the Uni and room rates accordingly.

In my opinion this is an excellent initiative and exactly something that Samui needs. Tourism is the main source of income nowadays on Samui so this Uni makes absolute sense.
It's located near Tesco Lotus' traffic lights, on the road leading into Chaweng, also not too far away from Thai International Hospital.

Dear Camille and other interested readers,

I have been directed to this blog by a number of people who have seen your information about the opening of Suratthani Rajabhat University, International School of Tourism Campus.

Since 2005 I have been employed at Suratthani Rajabhat University as an English teacher and the International Relations Officer for the foriegn teachers on campus.

I would like to set rumours straight with regards to the opening of the Samui campus. It will open no earlier than the end of 2010. Due to unforseen circumstances it has been delayed on a number of occasions.

I know from my own visits to Samui and friends who live on the island that rumours are rife about the opening of the campus, so I hope my message helps.

Anyone interested in applying for future positions should send thier C.V and credentials to:
Suratthani Rajabhat University, International School of Tourism, 272 Moo 9, Tambon Khunthalay, Amphur Muang Suratthani, 84100.

Please mark for the attention of The Dean or Ajarn Jennifer Lloyd. Alternatively you can send it by email to jklloyd@sru.ac.th.

When the time comes for recruitment to start for the Samui campus all applicants on file will be contacted.

I hope this helps.

Kind Regards

Ajarn Jennifer Lloyd

The Rajabhat university for the town and province of Surat Thani is found approximately eight kms to the south east of the town, on a main road. The university was founded in 1992, and includes the faculties of education, science and technology, management, humanities, and tourism. The university includes a graduate school, which has Masters level programs.it also include the courses of Tourism and Art.. it is very renouned university to have a degree from such institute is the matter of pride..

Theoretically it should be no problem to study there as a foreigner but I would imagine that all classes are in Thai, so you would need to be able to speak the Thai language.
